Star Trek: The Original Series

Creation, development and production

The concept of Star Trek was initially offered to CBS, but the channel is rejected by the production of Irwin Allen’s Lost in Space (Lost in Space). Then, Star Trek was offered to NBC executives, who rejected the first mate, saying it was too cerebral. But NBC executives were impressed with the concept and took the unusual step of asking for a second driver that was titled “Where No Man Has Gone Before”.
